Mordançage

My work in in the Mordançage process is a direct progression from my Lifted series. Having been captivated by the newfound practice of Polaroid emulsion lifts, thoughts of performing something similar with darkroom paper were quick to follow.

Much of my inspiration for this series comes from Logan Hermann, the model in these photos. I have always admired the ambiguities in his work. It straddles a line between reality and abstraction, and often masculine and feminine. There is a beautiful delicacy to his character that I believe to be a perfect fit for this project. He is also the originator of the technique used to perform the falling pose seen above.
